Current Listening: June 2010

Note: I won’t provide descriptions for every song on these now, as that gets a bit tedious.  Instead I’ll just link to all of the songs that I can and write a brief overview.

My March playlist published on April Fool’s was four songs longer than this one, but it was only two minutes longer.  This list gravitates towards the current year almost entirely with only two exceptions: Rod Stewart’s version of “Handbags And Gladrags,” the theme song to the original version of The Office, and, from a band I’m not usually too fond of, Grateful Dead’s “Ripple,” the song that plays out Judd Apatow’s one-season masterpiece Freaks And Geeks.  I’ve been catching up on a lot of television, yeah.  Many of the albums attached to these songs have not yet been released

1. “Power” – Kanye West featuring Dwele

2. “Tightrope” – Janelle Monáe featuring Big Boi (Music Video)

3. “The Ghost Inside” – Broken Bells (Music Video)

4. “Born Free” – M.I.A.

5. “Bury Pts 1 &3” – The Fall

6. “Sorrow” – The National (No link.  Copyright blocked).

7. “Stay Lucky” – The Gaslight Anthem (No link.  Unreleased.)

8. “Handbags And Gladrags” – Rod Stewart (This isn’t an official music video.  I suggest not watching this.  Only listen.)

9. “Month Of May” – Arcade Fire (No link.  Kind of unreleased, but mostly copyright blocked).

10. “Out Go The Lights” – Spoon

11. “Ripple” – Grateful Dead
